What is ClimVar & ICZM?

The ClimVar & ICZM, a sister project of the MedPartnership, is a collective effort to promote the use of ICZM in Mediterranean countries as an effective tool to deal with the impacts of climate variability and change in coastal zones. It started in January 2012 and completed in December 2015.

PROTOCOL ON INTEGRATED COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT IN THE MEDITERRANEAN

The ICZM Protocol is the key document of the Barcelona Convention, guiding the Mediterranean countries to better manage their coastal zones, as well as to deal with the emerging coastal environmental challenges, such as the climate change. It is a unique legal instrument in the entire international community and the Mediterranean countries are proud of it.
